We’re thrilled to announce that Sidewood Estate’s 2023 Mappinga Chardonnay has swept the 2024 International Cool Climate Wine Show (ICCWS), securing Best Wine in Show, Best White Wine in Show, and Best Australian Wine!
Facing tough competition from over 60 Chardonnay entries worldwide, the 2023 Mappinga Chardonnay stood out for its generous complexity—delivering a bouquet of peach, nectarine, and grapefruit, followed by a lively palate of grilled almonds, finger lime, and lychee. With a mineral-driven acidity, balanced oak tannins, and a stunning finish, it's no wonder this wine captured the attention of the judges.
The ICCWS is known for its rigorous judging standards, attracting experts from across the globe. Paul White, Chairman of the ICCWS, highlighted the winning wine’s qualities:

Crafted with Precision and Care
The 2023 Mappinga Chardonnay comes from sustainably grown grapes, handpicked and chilled before being pressed and wild-yeast fermented in French oak barrels for 10 months. Sidewood’s winemaker, Darryl Catlin, expressed pride in this vintage:
